Google Analytics is very common platform for some e-commerce companies. It contians a lot of sections and functions which are very convenient for data analysts to collect the data and find more insights based on the consumers behavior.

On the left side we can see there are several sections and the main sections are REPORTS, EVENTS, and EXPLORE. Especally, in the REPORTS part, we can see real-time data and also some interesting insights.

For example, if we go to Demograpic part, we can see how many consumers are female and male, and in different genders what is the distribution based on the different ages. Also it can track the data of consumers’ devices in mobile part, and the data of the sources (Social Media/ Direct/ Organic search/ others)that consumers use in acquisition part.

So if we collect all the information and the data, what does it look like? Yes, consumer behavior! The data is based on those people who may or may not make purchases, visited the website, the time that they spend on a particular website, the conversion rate, and the bounce rate.

Why Consumer Behavior data is important? Understanding consumer behavior is a vital aspect of marketing. Based on consumer behavior data, we are able to know how consumers make decisions and how potential customers will respond to new products or new services. It is important to explore actionable insights from the data to support companies to put forward corresponding strategies. If you are interested in consumer behavior, you can visit my previous blog!

So after we collected those data and what we can do? As a data scientist, you want to help the company to find its weakness and strength. Also we want to figure out what kind of elements/factors will greatly affect consumers’ behavior. How use ‘invisible hands’ to affect consumers so that companies can “guide” consumers to make “purchase” decisions! Well, we may create predictable models based on machine learning algorithms, do hypothesis test — A/B test, or find what affect the bounce rate and the conversion rate

Google Analytics is a very convenient for us because it is aotumaically collect and track the data from consumers. Further more, you can custom your dashboard which means you can select some sections that you want to track or analysis. Also it is very easy to load the data from Google Analytics to Spreadsheet for future analysis.

Small businesses can use the Google Analytics without paying a monthly charge, but if you want more advanced features or the ability to do more with the service, there is a recurring fee.

If you want to get the certificate of Google Anlytics, you can just simply search some tutorials online you just need to learn several hours you can go to take the exam. Of course the exam is free!

The video below is the video tutorial for beginers. Go ahead and take look at it! You can get your certificate within 4 hours!
